Guizhou Performing Troup was established in 1956. It has become well known since
then as a multi-cultural performance organization, with 155 professional performers
chosen from different minority ethnic groups. These include Han, Miao, BuYi, Shui,
Yi, TuiJia, Ge-Lao, Dong, etc.
Successful records:
In 1960, we produced a popular musical “Man Lo Ha” which was adapted by the Shanghai
Movie Company to become a blockbuster movie and received a best film award in the
Czech Film Festival.
In 1990, the performances of our musical “Mountain Dance” were highly regarded by
commentators in “The Third National Performance Art Festival”.
In 2001, our musical “Red Flower” was awarded three honors in the Second National
Minority Ethnic Group Performance Festival, including Best Playscript, Best Performance
and Best Artistic Design.
In 2002, “Red Flower” won four awards from China Ministry of Culture, including New
Production award, Best Director award, Best Music award and Dancing Art award. In
the same year, we were given the title of Pioneer in Multicultural Art Performance
by China Ministry of Culture.
In 2003, our collaboration with JienYi Circus brought about a successful innovative
production “Yi Yi Shan Shua Ching”, which was listed as one of the Ten Best Classic
Productions.
In 2005, our new production, “Wind of Colorful GuiZhou” had an opportunity to perform
in the opening ceremony of a large festival, “We Meet in Beijing”, on 28th and 29th
April, 2006.In September, our performance, “Wind of Colorful GuiZhou” was chosen
by the steering committee of the Third National Minority Ethnic Group Performance
Festival as the best art performance and the best production.
Since 1983, we have represented our country by visiting many countries and cities
around the world, such as America, France, Hungary, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Canada,
Singapore, Japan, Philippine, Panama, etc. On every occasion we were warmly welcomed
and highly regarded.
